The journal
No entry has gone for Denali yet. It is in the atlas; the day it is climbed will be written here.
The peak
A vast, isolated summit rising from Alaska’s interior rather than from a crowded chain, Denali makes its own weather and is notorious for cold, wind, and long glacial approaches. Its height matters, but the greater distinction is the relief: few mountains rise so abruptly from such low surrounding country.
