The range
What it holds
Ice does much of the visible work here: broad glaciers, snow-loaded ridges, and coastal storms give the Saint Elias Mountains a heavier, less settled look than the interior ranges. Along the Alaska–British Columbia border country, the range rises abruptly from low, wet ground into some of North America’s most glaciated high terrain.
